Family camp offers your family an opportunity to vacation at Haines Lake while enjoying great fun, good food and services, excellent spiritual teaching and fantastic fellowship. A chance for your whole family to grow in your walk with Jesus Christ.
Directors: Amy Kubassek & Laura McBay
Laura and Amy have been friends since working together at Koinonia together as teenagers. They can be somewhat competitive and are looking forward to another great adventure at camp. Laura is married to Terral and has 4 children and 1 very friendly dog. During the school year, she works as a grade 2&3 teacher in Elmira. One of Laura’s favourite things about spending time at camp is that every year brings new people to Koinonia to learn about Jesus and encourage each other in our faith. She and her children are looking forward to an exciting week of family camp in 2024!
Amy has been coming to camp since she was 4 years old and whenever she visits camp it is the highlight of her year. Amy lives in Kitchener with her husband Mike, son Charlie and step-son Jackson. She is a Public Health Nurse and enjoys helping people and making sure they get the support they need in life. Amy loves the fellowship at camp and all the activities camp has to offer (especially swimming). Faith is an important part of her life and always leaves camp refreshed spiritually by all the great speakers and spending time with God. Amy and Charlie are looking forward to directing camp this summer and making it a very special and fun week.
Speaker: David Alenskis
David first sensed while growing up as a teenager in Indiana that the Lord was calling him to pastoral ministry, and after graduating from university he got his first taste of long-term cross-cultural ministry by volunteering at a Christian orphanage on the northern coast of Peru. After completing his theological studies he joined the Society of Anglican Missionaries and Senders (SAMS-USA) and in 2011 began serving as a full-time missionary: first to Argentina and then to Belize, where through 2020 he served as the pastor of two rural Anglican churches and three primary schools. In 2016 he married his wife Mary Beth, and together they have three young children: Austin, James and Lily.
David is currently beginning his fifth year as a PhD student in historical theology at Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto. His goal is to serve the global church in ministry development and theological education, and the whole family is actively discerning where and how the Lord will be calling them next.
