SUMMER STAFF OPPORTUNITIES

Camp Koinonia is now open to receive applications for the 2013 Summer Program.   We are looking for the usual positions for the summer.  We will also be creating a supervising or department head positions for areas such as Maintenance, Food Services, Waterfront and a part-time position for Program (for a four week period). The Department Heads will work directly with the Executive Director, Administrator and Program Directors for each week to ensure that our campers and guests are given the highest quality of ministry and service.  Interviews will be held during the month of April and May 2013 and a special time of training will be set aside for Department Heads before the summer program begins.  Click on this to see the revised organizational chart.  Please send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Due to its success last summer, we will be having a STAFF TRAINING CAMP during the week of June 30th to July 5th, 2013.  IT IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL POTENTIAL STAFF MEMBERS and there will be a fee to parents of $ 150.00 plus HST to cover food and expenses.

DEPARTMENT HEADS

Head, Maintenance

This individual will be responsible for supervising 3 or 4 jo-boys.  Position reports directly to the Executive Director in identifying and prioritizing maintenance tasks, repairs and other projects around the property and facility.  The Department Heads will assist in the direct supervision and co-ordination of the staff team during the summer.   Department heads are expected to work the entire summer of 9 weeks.

Head, Cook

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of food services operations, including food/menu selection, ordering, production and preparation as well as the supervision of all staff in the kitchen and dishwashing area. Position reports directly to the Executive Director and works co-operatively with the Camp Administrator for menu planning and food ordering.  The Department Heads will assist in the direct supervision and co-ordination of the staff team during the summer.  Department heads are expected to work the entire summer of 9 weeks.   Must have obtained Certified Food Handler's requirements.

Head, Waterfront Services

Responsible for the safety and program services and activities held at the waterfront. Responsible for swimming instruction of campers. Minimum age of 18, with NLS certification. Possible program responsibilities during youth camps. Position reports to the Executive Director. The Department Heads will assist in the direct supervision and co-ordination of the staff team during the summer.   Department heads are expected to work the entire summer of 9 weeks.

Head, Youth Programs

Responsible for overseeing the work of our youth camps, including meeting and assisting with the programs directors, supervising and training the cabin leaders. This position could also include assisting with marketing and development of campers through church visits, reunions, etc. Minimum age of 18 years of age. Position reports to the Executive Director. The Department Heads will assist in the direct supervision and co-ordination of the staff team during the summer.  This position will include the Staff Training Camp, Kids Kamp and the two Youth Camps at the end of the summer (a term of 4 weeks during the summer).

OTHER POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Assistant Waterfront Director

Responsible for assisting the Waterfront Director. Minimum age of 16, with NLS certification. Possible program responsibilities during youth camps. Position reports to the Waterfront Director.

Assistant Cook

Responsible for assisting the Head Cook.  Will work co-operatively with the Head Cook and other kitchen staff.  Minimum age of 16, with experience working in a professional kitchen.  Must be available to substitute on Head Cook's day off, etc. in order to make sure the kitchen is running smoothly.

Babysitters/Dishwashers

Responsible for the care of the children at Family Camps, including babysitting and children’s program. Responsible for the serving of tea and coffee during the meals at Family Camp, along with the cleaning of dishes. Child care for staff’s children may also be involved as required. Position reports to the Children’s Program Director (for child care duties) and Executive DIrector as required.  Child care staff are required for the Family Camps weeks only and dishwashers are required for the entire summer.

Housekeeping

Responsible for the general cleanliness of the interior of camp buildings, including the laundry mat, lodge, kitchen, shower house, prayer cabin, etc. Position reports to the Executive Director. Housekeeping staff if needed are usually required for the Family Camps weeks only.

Jo-Boys

Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of the property, including assistance with building projects, renovations, etc. Position reports to the Head, Maintenance.

Kitchen Help

Responsible for the preparation of all meals and the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining hall.  Position reports to the Head, Cook.

Program Directors

Responsible for the planning and implementation of the camper program. During Youth Camps the program directors will supervise cabin leaders. Position reports directly to the Executive Director. Programs Directors will be responsible for one or more weeks of the camp program.

Cabin Leaders

Responsible for the supervision of youth campers, supervising up to 6 campers in a cabin during a specific camp. Responsibilities include direct one-to-one supervision and oversight, sleeping in the cabin with the campers, setting standards and being a role-model as well as fully participating in the assigned program. Position reports directly to the Head, Youth Programming and Program Directors. Cabin leaders are required for the Youth Camps weeks only.
